History of the car
This car was built in the late '40s at the request of Baron Stefano La Motta di Palermo exploiting the mechanics and the engine of a Cisitalia 202S,that the same Baron destroyed in a race accident.
The Gilco frame was ordained to the company and built by Columbo in two pieces, one for the road races, and that's the one fitted on this car, and one for the track events listed if they are untraceable. The aluminium body build by Autocarrozzeria F.lli Tarantino at Palermo and painted the color used by the Baron on his racing cars in alpine white.
After participating in various races of the time was sold in 1952.
At the famous race Giro di Sicilia with Giovanni Casales (I) & Domenico Tramontana (I) in the driver seat got the record in the 1,100cc class,in the stage Catania-Palermo.
This is a front engined racecar, the engine type is I4 (inline four) normally produced about 60hp at 5500 rpm but with Cisitalia cylinder head can produce 80hp,the body and chassis made from 25CrMo4 (High grade steel), that makes the car very lightweight, with only 816kgs can reach speeds close to 200kph.
