Frazer Nash - BMW was the name of importer company of official pre war BMW in Great Britain.
BMW models 319 & 319/1 were presented in 1935 with 6 cylinders engines like 315 & 315/1. After 1937 the production of all 319 types was 6646 cars of which 102 where 319/1 Roadsters. The famous BMW Willis Special started as a 315 from 1936.
Ron Willis after the 2nd WW transformed the car to a real racecar,buring races till 1952 with great success.
After the end of 1952 racing season the Willis Special abandoned in hibernation as a basket case and changed many hands till Fuad Mazjub sold it as pieces to Brian May who started partial restoration. Proby Cautley purchased the semi-restored car,finished it off and presented the car in 2003 at Silverstone. taking part in numerous events in 2004.
A second car based in 319/1 chassis bearing a similar lightweight body (aluminium sheets on small tubes underbody stucture) was put in place in parralel with the restoration of Ron Willis BMW. This car was sold in 2002 from Coys auctions to Hellenic Motor Museum in very good condition in chassis and aluminium body, but unfinished concerning mechanical and rest of equipment.
By increasing the engine capacity to 1971cc and placing a Bristol 401 cylinder head with hemispherical combustion chambers, indentical to pre war BMW 328 as well as the mechanical parts like hydraulic brakes from the same famous racing BMW is an exact copy of the historical BMW Willis Special, being a very fast racing car prepared according to early 50s Formula 2 specifications.
The engine is a 6 cylinder in line 1971cc, delivering 135 bhp at 5500 rpm, while top speed is about 165 kph.

Frazer Nash - BMW ήταν η εταιρεία εισαγωγέας των προπολεμικών BMW στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία.
Τα μοντέλα BMW 319 και 319/1 παρουσιάστηκαν το 1935 με εξακύλινδρους κινητήρες όπως και τα προηγούμενα 315 και 315/1.
Μετά το 1937 η παραγωγή όλων των τύπων BMW 319 ήταν 6646 αυτοκίνητα εκ των οποίων 102 ήταν 319/1 Roadsters.
Το διάσημο BMW Willis Special ξεκίνησε ως ένα απλό 315/1 του 1936. Μετά τον Β' Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο αγοράστηκε από τον Ron Willis ο οποίος το μετέτρεψε σε αγωνιστικό και συμμετείχε με μεγάλη επιτυχία σε αγώνες μέχρι το 1952.
Μετά το τέλος της αγωνιστικής σεζόν του 1952 το Willis Special εγκαταλείφθηκε σε χειμερία νάρκη και άλλαξε πολλά χέρια μέχρι που ο Fuad Mazjub το πούλησε ως κομμάτια στον Brian May ο οποίος ξεκίνησε τη μερική αποκατάσταση του. Ο Proby Cautley αγόρασε το ημι-ανακαινισμένο αυτοκίνητο και προχώρησε στην πλήρη αποκατάσταση του, ανακαινισμένο το παρουσίασε το 2003 στο Silverstone,λαμβάνοντας επίσης μέρος σε πολλές εκδηλώσεις το 2004.
Ένα δεύτερο αυτοκίνητο βασισμένο σε BMW 319/1 σασί, που φέρει ένα παρόμοιο ελαφρύ σώμα (φύλλα αλουμινίου στηριγμένα σε κατασκευή από λεπτούς σωλήνες) τέθηκε σε εφαρμογή παράλληλα με την αποκατάσταση του Ron Willis BMW Special.
Αυτό το αυτοκίνητο πουλήθηκε το 2002 από την Coys στο Ελληνικό Μουσείο Αυτοκινήτου σε πολύ καλή κατάσταση στο σασί
και το σώμα από αλουμίνιο, αλλά ημιτελή όσο αφορά τα μηχανικά μέρη και τον λοιπό εξοπλισμό.
Με την αύξηση της χωρητικότητας του κινητήρα στα 1971cc και την τοποθέτηση κυλινδροκεφαλής από Bristol 401 με ημισφαιρικούς θαλάμους καύσης, ταυτόσημους με τα προπολεμικά BMW 328 και τα μηχανικά μέρη, όπως τα υδραυλικά φρένα από το ίδιο διάσημο αγωνιστικό BMW, είναι λοιπόν ένα ακριβές αντίγραφο του ιστορικού BMW Willis Special, ένα πολύ γρήγορο αγωνιστικό αυτοκίνητο κατασκευασμένο σύμφωνα με τις αρχές της δεκαετίας του '50 με προδιαγραφές Formula 2.
Ο κινητήρας είναι επίπεδος,6 κυλίνδρων, χωρητικότητας 1971 κ.ε. παρέχοντας 135 ίππους στις 5500 σ.α.λ. ενώ η τελική του ταχύτητα είναι περίπου 165 χ.α.ω.
Ron Willis posted a record time of 48.84 seconds at the Prescott Hillclimb. This was down from his initial time of over 62 seconds from just a few years earlier. Bulmer won the up to 2,500 cc sports car class and finished 2nd in the Formula 2 race at Silverstone at the end of May, followed by a 2nd in the Formula 2 race at Snetterton.
Three weeks later Willis faced a tough field of Formula 2s at the West Essex Car Club’s Boreham race. Led by Reg Parnell’s Cooper Bristol, 2 Connaught A-types, and a Ferrari 125/66, Willis finished a credible 5th, and in the process set a two litre lap record of 85.5 mph.
